Judo has something for everyone! It is a dynamic Olympic sport refined from the ancient Martial Art of Ju Jitsu by Dr Jigoro Kano in 1882. Judo is practiced by millions of people throughout the world on a daily basis. People practice Judo for many reasons – to excel in competitions, to get fit, develop self confidence, learn self-defence or for the younger Judoka (Judo players) simply for the fun of it!
Swords Judo Club is a member of the Irish Judo Assoc – www.irishjudoassociation.ie and is one of the top Junior clubs in the country. It has produced many national champions over the years and currently has 3 All Ireland Champions/Irish Open Champions in Ion & Sanda Rusu and Nikita Levchenko. We also have Eddie McLoughlin who is currently one of the up and coming players in the country and is No 2 in Ireland Under 16! They have also produced players who have represented Ireland abroad in Judo competitions winning medals on the way.
Players have fought at national and international levels. But we have always prided ourselves as being a fun place to learn judo.
With many black belt coaches in place, including a former member of the Russian National Judo Team why don’t you come along to check us out?
